New England Science & Sailing Foundation (NESS) seeks six AmeriCorps STEM Education Ambassadors (SEA) at the middle/high school level. NESS SEA AmeriCorps Members will serve both in the classroom & in the field, impacting young people's lives by providing opportunities for transformational experiences and personal growth. These full-time, 12-month AmeriCorps members will become an integral part of the classrooms in the New London Public School District to improve student performance and achievement by leading academic enrichment programs and providing additional support in schools throughout the academic day. Members of the Secondary Education Team will be responsible for planning and implementing enrichment programs, in the field & in the classroom, which bridge academic and experiential learning, using marine science and ocean adventure sports as the platform. Throughout the school day, members will provide classroom support, tutoring, and mentoring to students. This is a great opportunity for a passionate, motivated individual to be a part of a vibrant, growing organization while at the same time serving underserved students through the AmeriCorps national service model.
