Set up, adjust and operate a variety of manual and N/C machine tools to perform progressive machining operations on a diversified line of close tolerance work requiring a high degree of skill and technique.
Usually large and expensive work or smaller work of complicated nature having critical and exacting requirements as to tolerance and finish.

Select speeds and feeds
Determine operational sequences and tooling arrangements.
Grind and adapt tooling and machine attachments for special work requirements.
Diagnose and rectify tooling problems and machine malfunctions.

Requires a journeyman apprenticeship or equivalent training plus considerable experience to perform work.
Ability to operate all machines in Machine Shop, on any shift, on a fill-in basis.
